Best Automatic Wet Food Feeders for Cats (2026) — Verified Specs Compared

An automatic wet food feeder has to solve a problem a dry feeder never faces: wet cat food is roughly 70% moisture, and moisture at room temperature grows bacteria. That single fact decides everything else about these machines — how they cool, how many meals they can safely hold, and how hard they are to clean. This guide compares what each manufacturer actually publishes about cooling, cleaning, portions and power, and leaves a cell blank when they publish nothing.

Correction notice — September 2026

An earlier version of this page was wrong in several ways, and we have rebuilt it from the manufacturers’ own published specifications. Specifically:

  • It listed the PETKIT YumShare / camera feeder as the #1 wet food feeder. That product is a dry-food hopper feeder with a desiccant bag. It should never have appeared on a wet food page, and it has been removed.
  • It described a PETLIBRO wet food feeder as having an AI camera, multi-cat recognition and UVC sterilisation. PETLIBRO publishes none of those for its wet food feeder, and PETLIBRO’s own listing states the lid sensor is “not RFID”. Removed.
  • It claimed chilled feeders hold food “below 50°F”. PETLIBRO’s published lab figure is approximately 54°F (12°C) in a 77°F room. Corrected.
  • It named specific wet food brands as working well in the Cat Mate C500. No manufacturer publishes brand compatibility, so that claim has been removed.
  • Two picks had no working link at all, and one told readers to search Amazon. Every product below now links to a specific product page we opened and checked.

One more thing worth flagging: the ASIN that most search results give for the Cat Mate C500 on Amazon.com currently resolves to a replacement bowl, not the feeder. We link the feeder listing.

Our evidence position on this page, stated plainly.

This household has never owned a wet food feeder. Every product below is a Research-Backed Pick — assessed from manufacturer specifications, product listings we opened ourselves, and published owner ratings. We have not run any of these machines.

What we do have is a four-Ragdoll household (Rum, Stella, Thor and Loki) and several years of living with automatic dry kibble feeders — a series of them over the years whose models we did not record, and a FUKUMARU feeder in use now. That gives us a realistic sense of how automatic feeders fail in a busy multi-cat home: jams, lids that get shoved, and cleaning you stop doing. It does not give us any standing to tell you how a chilled wet food tray behaves after three days. Where we do not know, this page says so.

Why wet food automation is genuinely hard

The common food-safety guidance is to discard wet cat food left out at room temperature for more than about two hours. Every feeder below is an attempt to buy time against that limit, and there are only three real strategies:

  1. Actively chill it with a thermoelectric (semiconductor / Peltier) cooler — needs mains power, and can hold food for days.
  2. Passively chill it with frozen ice packs — no power needed, but the cooling decays over hours and you must refreeze the packs.
  3. Seal it and skip cooling entirely — a lid that keeps air, flies and other cats out. This does not extend food safety time; it solves a different problem.

Those three strategies are not competing versions of the same product. Choosing between them is really choosing which problem you have — and that is the decision this page is built around.

Everything in this table came from a manufacturer product page or an Amazon listing we opened on 10 September 2026. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing, the cell says not published — we have not estimated, and we have not filled a gap with a number from a review site.

Our picks

#1 — The only genuinely refrigerated option • Research-Backed Pick

PETLIBRO Automatic Wet Food Cat Feeder (Polar, 2026 version)

Semiconductor cooling, three meals over three days, stainless steel tray, app-scheduled.

Evidence: Research-Backed Pick. We have not owned or run this feeder. Everything below comes from PETLIBRO’s product page and Amazon listing, read on 10 September 2026.

Why it is here: It is the only feeder on this page that actively refrigerates rather than delaying spoilage with a frozen block. PETLIBRO’s claim is specific and testable: three meals held fresh for up to 72 hours using thermoelectric cooling, with the served compartment allowed to return to room temperature about 30 minutes before mealtime. On the Polar product page PETLIBRO publishes an actual lab figure — approximately 54°F (12°C) with the room at 77°F — which is a more honest number than the vague “stays cold” language most of this category uses. It is worth reading it for what it is: cool, not refrigerator-cold. A domestic fridge runs nearer 40°F.

The cleaning question: the 2026 version’s headline change is a food-grade stainless steel tray in place of plastic, which PETLIBRO states is removable and dishwasher-safe below 212°F/100°C. On a wet food machine this matters more than any app feature — plastic trays hold residue and odour, and residue is what makes people give up on these feeders.

What you should weigh carefully: the cooling only works while it is plugged in. PETLIBRO publishes 12 hours of schedule protection on 3 × AA batteries during an outage, which preserves the timings — it does not keep the food cold. And the earlier generation of the Polar carries a 3.1 average from 257 Amazon.com customer ratings as read on 10 September 2026, which is a poor score for a premium product. The 2026 version had only 7 ratings on the same date, so its reliability record is not yet established either way. We are not going to pretend that gap does not exist.

Best for: someone who genuinely needs multi-day wet food scheduling — a long workday, an overnight away — and has a permanent power outlet where the feeder will live.

Skip it if: you only need one delayed wet meal, or you cannot leave it plugged in.

The earlier Polar generation is still listed separately: Amazon.com · Currently unavailable on Amazon.ca — it is the one carrying the 3.1 rating.

#2 — Most meals, no power required • Research-Backed Pick

Cat Mate C500 Five-Meal Feeder with Stainless Steel Bowls and Ice Packs

Five separate 330 g bowls, twin ice packs, runs about a year on three AA batteries.

Evidence: Research-Backed Pick. We have not owned or run this feeder. Specifications below are from Closer Pets (the manufacturer) and the Amazon listing, read on 10 September 2026.

Why it is here: five individually timed bowls is the most meals of anything on this page, and it achieves them without a wall socket — Closer Pets publishes roughly 12 months of operation from 3 × AA batteries. Each stainless steel bowl holds up to 330 g (11.5 oz), which is a genuinely large wet portion, and the bowls and lid are dishwasher-safe. Closer Pets publishes a 3-year guarantee. It carries a 4.5 average from 352 Amazon.com customer ratings as read on 10 September 2026 — the strongest score in this comparison.

The limitation you must plan around: the twin ice packs are passive cooling, and Closer Pets publishes no duration for how long they keep food cool. Their wording is only “keeps food fresh for longer”. That is an honest gap, not a hidden one, but it means you cannot schedule a fifth meal 14 hours out and treat it as refrigerated. Treat the C500 as a machine that buys you hours, not days, and refreeze the packs between uses.

Best for: frequent small wet meals across a working day, portion-controlled feeding, and anyone who does not want an app, a subscription or a power cord involved in feeding their cat.

Skip it if: you need food held safely overnight or longer — that is a job for active refrigeration.

On Amazon.ca this same ASIN is listed under the Closer Pets brand name rather than Cat Mate. It is the same feeder.

#3 — The simple one • Research-Backed Pick

Cat Mate C300 Three-Meal Digital Feeder with Ice Pack

Three 11.5 oz compartments, one ice pack, and by far the longest owner record on this page.

Evidence: Research-Backed Pick. We have not owned or run this feeder. Specifications below are from the Amazon listing, read on 10 September 2026.

Why it is here: it does the one thing most people actually want — leave a wet meal that opens later today — with fewer parts to fail than anything else here. Three compartments, one available immediately and the rest on the timer, each holding up to 11.5 oz. The listing states it takes dry, wet or raw food, and that bowls and lid are dishwasher-safe. It is also the most-reviewed product in this comparison by a wide margin: 4.2 from 5,660 Amazon.com customer ratings as read on 10 September 2026. That volume of feedback is itself a form of evidence that a design has been in the field a long time.

What is not published: Cat Mate gives no cooling duration for the ice pack and no battery-life figure for this model. Both cells stay blank in our table rather than being filled with a guess.

Best for: one or two delayed wet meals a day, a first automatic wet feeder, or a second unit for a cat fed separately.

Skip it if: you need more than three meals, or you want app control.

#4 — A different product class entirely • Research-Backed Pick

SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder (MPF001)

Opens for one cat’s microchip and nobody else’s. It has no timer, and that is the point.

Evidence: Research-Backed Pick. We have not owned or run this feeder. Specifications below are from Sure Petcare’s product page and the Amazon listing, read on 10 September 2026.

Read this before you compare it to the others. The SureFeed is not a scheduled feeder. It does not dispense food, and it has no timer. You put a meal in the bowl and the lid opens only when the correct cat approaches. It solves food stealing, not spoilage. Comparing it to the PETLIBRO or the Cat Mate on “number of meals” is comparing two different machines.

Why it is here: in a multi-cat house, the wet food problem is often not scheduling at all — it is that the cat on a prescription renal or weight-management diet gets half of it eaten by somebody else. The SureFeed reads the cat’s existing implanted microchip (9, 10 or 15 digit) or an RFID collar tag, stores up to 32 identities, and opens only for the assigned one. The bowl holds 13.5 fl oz (400 ml), which Sure Petcare describes as two pouches of wet food, and the lid closes onto a neoprene lip to form a seal that Sure Petcare says helps retain moisture. Sure Petcare publishes a 3-year warranty and roughly 6 months from 4 × C batteries. It holds 4.2 from 171 Amazon.com customer ratings as read on 10 September 2026.

What is not published: Sure Petcare does not state whether the bowl and mat are dishwasher-safe, and gives no duration for how long the seal keeps wet food acceptable. We are not going to infer either. Note also that this is one feeder per cat — a four-cat household separating diets needs four of them, which is the real cost.

A note on the Amazon listing: the seller’s own marketing copy includes a veterinary endorsement line. That is the seller’s claim on their own listing — not something we can verify, not something we are repeating as fact, and no part of why this product appears on our page.

Best for: multi-cat homes with a prescription diet, a weight-management diet, or a persistent food thief.

Skip it if: you wanted scheduling — it has none. Pair it with a timed feeder instead of replacing one.

View on Amazon.com → View on Amazon.ca →

There is also a SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect on Amazon.com · Amazon.ca — it adds integrated scales and app data, but the Amazon.com listing states plainly that a hub is required and sold separately. Budget for the hub or the app features do not work.

#5 — Included with a caveat • Research-Backed Pick

HoneyGuaridan Wi-Fi Feeder with Ice Packs

The most transparent ice-pack claim in the category, on a product that is mostly a dry feeder.

Evidence: Research-Backed Pick. We have not owned or run this feeder. Specifications below are from the Amazon listing, read on 10 September 2026.

Why it is here — and what to know first: this product is marketed as an automatic cat feeder for wet food, but its own Amazon title also calls it a “Timed Dry Food Dispenser”, and the listing describes a hopper, a desiccant bag and a sealed revolving door — all dry-feeder hardware. It is a dry-food feeder that ships with three ice packs so the bowl can also be used for wet food. If you were expecting a dedicated chilled wet food machine, this is not one.

The reason it earns a place anyway: it publishes the number everybody else hides. HoneyGuaridan states outright that “the ice packs effect 6-8 hours”. No other ice-pack feeder in this comparison will tell you that. Whether or not you buy this feeder, that figure is the most useful data point on this page — it is a manufacturer’s own estimate of how long passive cooling actually lasts, and it is a reasonable yardstick for what to expect from any ice-pack design. It also offers 2.4 GHz app scheduling, a 10-second recorded meal call, and continues running on 3 × D batteries in an outage, though the listing notes Wi-Fi does not work on battery alone. It holds 3.8 from 170 Amazon.com customer ratings as read on 10 September 2026 — the weakest score here apart from the earlier Polar.

Best for: a household feeding mostly dry with one wet meal, that wants both from one app-controlled unit.

Skip it if: wet food is the main diet. Buy a purpose-built wet feeder instead.

How to choose in one pass

Your problem is time.
You are out longer than wet food survives.

→ Active cooling. PETLIBRO Polar is the only one here that refrigerates rather than delays.

Your problem is portions.
Small meals, spread out, no overfeeding.

→ Cat Mate C500 for five, C300 for three. No power, no app.

Your problem is another cat.
Someone eats the prescription food.

→ SureFeed Microchip. Different class of device — no timer, one per cat.

The honest limitation of this whole category

Wet food automation is harder and less forgiving than dry food automation, and it is worth saying plainly that a lot of households would be better served by automating dry food completely and hand-serving one wet meal a day. That is a smaller, more reliable machine doing a job it is good at, plus two minutes of your time.

Buy a wet food feeder when you have a real reason: a shift pattern that misses a meal time, a cat that must eat small portions often, a prescription diet that another cat keeps stealing, or an overnight away. If none of those apply, a dry feeder and a manual wet dinner is the simpler answer, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a machine.

One practical point that applies to every feeder here: the failure mode for wet food feeders is almost never the motor. It is cleaning. Dried wet food in a tray corner, in a hinge, under a seal. Before you buy, look at the model and ask how you will get a brush into every part of it that touches food, every day. That question eliminates more products in this category than any specification does.

Frequently asked questions

Is there such a thing as an automatic cat feeder for wet food?

Yes, and there are two genuinely different kinds. Refrigerated feeders such as the PETLIBRO Polar use semiconductor cooling to hold several wet meals for up to three days by the manufacturer’s claim. Timed tray feeders such as the Cat Mate C500 and C300 use frozen ice packs to keep pre-loaded compartments cool for a shorter, generally unpublished period. Both dispense wet food on a schedule; only the first keeps it cold indefinitely while the power is on.

How long can wet cat food safely sit out?

Common food-safety guidance is to discard wet food left at room temperature for more than about two hours, and less in a warm room. This is the constraint the entire product category exists to work around. If you plan to leave more than one wet meal out, you need either active cooling or, at minimum, frozen ice packs and a realistic sense of how few hours they buy you.

How long do the ice packs in a wet food feeder actually last?

Most manufacturers do not publish a figure. Cat Mate says only that its ice packs keep food “fresh for longer” without a duration. The one number we found published is HoneyGuaridan’s, which states its ice packs are effective for 6–8 hours. Treat that as the order of magnitude for passive cooling generally, and note that it will be shorter in a warm room.

Can I put wet food in a normal automatic dry food feeder?

No. Dry feeders dispense by dropping kibble from a hopper through a rotating or auger mechanism, and wet food will not travel through it — it clogs, smears and then rots inside a part you cannot easily reach. Feeders that handle wet food do it by uncovering a pre-filled bowl or tray, never by dispensing from a hopper.

Does a wet food dispenser for cats take cans or pouches, or only its own trays?

It varies, and it is worth checking before you buy. PETLIBRO lists commercial canned wet food, wet food pouches, semi-moist food and prescription canned food as compatible with the Polar — but you decant it into the feeder’s own tray; the machine does not open a can. The Cat Mate C500 and C300 and the SureFeed are all simply bowls with lids, so any wet food that fits works. No feeder on this page loads a sealed can or pouch directly.

What is the best smart wet food cat feeder?

Among the models we verified, the PETLIBRO Polar is the only wet-specific feeder with app scheduling and active cooling together, so it is the one to look at if “smart” is the requirement. Be aware that smart features and reliability are separate questions: the earlier Polar generation held a 3.1 average from 257 Amazon.com customer ratings when we checked on 10 September 2026, and the 2026 revision had too few ratings to judge. If app control is a nice-to-have rather than a must, the unconnected Cat Mate models have far stronger owner feedback.

Do any of these work for multiple cats?

Only in a limited sense. None of the scheduled feeders here recognises individual cats — PETLIBRO explicitly states the Polar’s lid sensor is not RFID. The SureFeed does identify cats by microchip and stores up to 32 identities, but it holds one bowl for one cat with no timer, so a multi-cat household on separate diets needs one unit per cat. There is no single device on this page that both schedules meals and feeds different cats different food.

What happens in a power cut?

The battery-powered feeders — Cat Mate C500 and C300, and the SureFeed — are unaffected, since they never used mains power. The PETLIBRO Polar is the one to think about: PETLIBRO publishes 12 hours of schedule protection from 3 × AA batteries, but that preserves the timings and does not keep the cooling running. Food in an unpowered chilled feeder is subject to the same two-hour rule as food in a bowl.

Which parts can go in the dishwasher?

PETLIBRO states the 2026 Polar’s stainless steel tray is removable and dishwasher-safe when washed below 212°F/100°C. Cat Mate states the C500’s five stainless steel bowls and its lid are dishwasher-safe, and the same for the C300’s bowls and lid. Sure Petcare and HoneyGuaridan do not publish dishwasher guidance for their feeders, so we have left those cells blank rather than assume.

What we could not verify

In the interest of not padding the table with plausible-sounding numbers, here is what is genuinely missing:

  • Cooling duration for the Cat Mate ice packs. Neither Cat Mate nor Closer Pets publishes an hours figure for the C500 or the C300.
  • Dishwasher guidance for the SureFeed and the HoneyGuaridan. Neither manufacturer states it.
  • Battery life for the Cat Mate C300. Not published.
  • Portion capacity for the 2026 PETLIBRO Polar. The earlier generation’s listing gives a 7.4 oz maximum per portion; the 2026 listing does not restate it, so we have not carried the figure across as though it were confirmed.
  • Long-term reliability of the 2026 Polar. Seven Amazon ratings on 10 September 2026 is not enough to draw any conclusion from.
  • Wet food brand or texture compatibility. No manufacturer on this page publishes which pâtés, gravies or gels work in their trays, and we have not run these feeders ourselves, so we make no claim about it.
  • Prices. Deliberately absent. Amazon pricing moves constantly and any number here would be wrong within days; use the links to see the current price.
